Brief History of Playzone Preschool
Playzone has been part of the Cradley/Halesowen community for over 25 years.
Did you know that Playzone Preschool was originally Trinity Playgroup? It was founded in 1970 as Trinity Playgroup, Trinity Methodist, Lyde Green, when Trinity Methodist moved to Overend Methodist Mission the Leaders of the group changed its name to The Play Zone.
In 1998 after many years of hard work and dedication the leaders decided it was time to stepdown and appointed a new leader to manage Playzone and Alison Hill was asked to take the lead. Alison is a mother of 2, who at the time already had range of experience and qualifications working with children was involved with Colley Lane toddler group, church activities and Barnardo's, she had also previously trained and worked with children with special needs. At that time Playzone was a playgroup meeting 3 mornings per week we were a team of volunteers
The Play Zone has continued to evolve over the years keeping up with the many changes in Early years education, the foundation stage curriculum and legislation such as the introduction of free nursery education funding, time for twos, registering and inspections with Ofsted,
Over the years the team of staff have continued to study and grow as early years professionals, gaining NVQ's, HND's, BA hons degrees and post graduate early years professional status (EYPs). Sessions are inspected by Ofsted for its standards and quality of teaching it was felt it the Play Zone should be known as a Playzone Preschool.
